The Ipswich Gymnastics Centre is very pleased to announce that the London 2012 Olympic Committee has approved our facility as a Pre Games Training Camp venue.

History

The Ipswich Gymnastics Centre was built in 1999 with an extension being added in 2006, it can boast as being one of the best training and competition venues in the UK and Europe. The facility plays host to Regional, National and International competitions, hosts training camps for the GB squad as well as international visitors, with a proven track record in hosting elite athletes.

 

 

 

Geography

The Centre is based less than 1 mile from the main road infrastructure and is approximately 1 hour from London.  The main London train line is only 3km from the centre, The Harwich International Ferry is 40km away and Stansted Airport is 58km from the centre.

 

 

 

Gymnastic Equipment

 The large main arena is equipped with 2 sets of International standard apparatus for both men and women, with:
  • 1 full size sprung floor area,
  • Pits as standard
  • 2 vaults
  • 2 pommels
  • 2 parallel bars
  • 3 high bars
  • 2 un-even bars
  • 4 beams
  • 3 ring frames
  • 25m-carbon rod tumble track
  • Sunken trampoline

 

 

 

 

Other Rooms, Equipment and Services

 
  • A second training hall with one full set of apparatus can also accessed if required.
  • Dance studio with wooden sprung floor, ballet bars and mirrors various meeting rooms which can set up as a classroom and video play back room or as a conference room.
  • A treatment & drug testing room
  • First Aid Equipment
  • Masseur and Sports Therapist
  • Gymnasts lounge area with TV & DVD
  • An office with I.T. equipment and Internet access is also available.
  • Classroom with video playback facility
  •  There is a large car park to the front aspect and the whole venue being situated in 15.3 hectares of sports ground meaning this venue can offer other sports also, a general fitness gym with weights and cardiovascular equipment.
  • A viewing gallery that seats 200 people is situated above the main arena

 

 

 

Dedicated Events Team 

The centre as well as being a fantastic training venue also has a dedicated events team that can offer:

  • Airport collection
  •  Transfer to Olympic site    
  •  Arrange local hotels
  • Organise transport to and from local accommodation
  • Provide lunches as per your specified menu.

 

 

 

Need to Relax 

We are happing to offer a cultural program if required, why not enjoy the local countryside, historical sites, take trip to the cinema, visit the shopping centre for some retail therapy.
