The Ipswich Gymnastic Centre is located on the southeast side of Ipswich, easily accessible from the A14 at junction 57, and was opened in November 1999 being one of the first purpose-built facilities to benefit from National Lottery funding. We have undergone a series of extensions and improvements over the years, celebrating our 20th Birthday at our 2019 Xmas Show with further celebrations in our 21st Anniversary year at the Presentation Evening in February 2020. We celebrated our 25th Anniversary in November 2024 at an evening function attended by staff members and invited guests.

The Centre benefits from a designated recreational gymnasium as well as a competitive gymnasium, dance studio, treatment rooms and classroom/ meeting room. The apparatus includes Asymmetric Bars, High Bars, Parallel Bars, High and Low Beams, Rings, Vaults, Pommels, Sprung Floor Area of competition standard, Tumble Track, Fast Track, Foam Pits, Trampettes and floor level Trampolines. It is one of the best gymnastic venues in the country with excellent viewing balconies where parents and guests can watch in comfort as the gymnasts participate.

Pipers Vale Gymnastics Club was established at the Centre when local clubs joined forces to become one of the largest and best equipped competitive gymnastics clubs in the country. The Club currently has gymnasts competing at International level as well as National, Regional and County level; we also have gymnasts in National, Regional and County squads.

Our facility is not just for the elite gymnasts you see on TV or those competing at high level but for use by the whole community. We organise structured courses and classes for all ages and abilities from Pre-School to Junior Advanced Recreational, casual Free Style Youth Activities, daily play sessions for Parent & Toddlers as well as school holiday sessions. We also have a well established Schools programme in operation which caters for nursery schools right through to curriculum high school level.

We don’t just cater for children either... Tuesday and Thursday night is Adult Night, a fun informal chance to train or simply “have a go”.

Dance classes are available at the Centre run by the Jessica Ann School of Dance (contact by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

Lenny Austin of the Caribbean Karate Club also runs sessions at the Centre on Friday evening (contact by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
