Beginner Recreational gymnastics classes offer a fun and structured way for children to learn gymnastics skills. Sessions are designed to be engaging and enjoyable while teaching the essential elements needed for long-term gymnastics development.
The programme follows an award scheme that provides clear direction and purpose, supporting progression while building confidence and a sense of achievement. Throughout the year, there are four scheduled testing periods, along with a Performance Preparation term at the end of the year. During this term, all recreational gymnasts are encouraged to take part in our in-house competition. The focus is on preparing gymnasts for competition while strengthening fundamental skills and body shapes, helping to create strong foundations for more advanced skills.
Testing periods are displayed at the reception desk and Gym entrance so parents can easily see when their child’s level will be reviewed. Assessments are conducted in an informal, non-competitive environment. Children who successfully demonstrate the required skills for their current level will pass and progress to the next level in the following teaching period.
The entry-level award for Beginner gymnasts is Grade 6, progressing through to Grade 3. Children training at these levels take part in mixed-ability sessions, with groups organised according to the grade each child is working towards.

Gymnastics In Ipswich Terms & Conditions
Structured Courses
- Our terms run back-to-back; they are not synced with school terms which means we are open during school holidays as normal. We do close on Bank Holidays though and for 2/3 weeks at the end of August and December
- There are four testing periods in a calendar year, the dates of which are displayed at our reception desk and the entrance to the Gym. Testing happens over 2 sessions towards the end of a teaching block; it is important your gymnast(s) attend both of these.
- If you know prior to the testing weeks that your child will be missing one or both of these weeks, please speak to the coaches in the Gym, they will try to complete the test on just one week, however we cannot guarantee this. We do not test any later than these set periods; if your child was unable to make the testing weeks, this means they will not be assessed.
- Test results will only be given out in week after the testing period once they have been finalised by the coaches.
- We cannot offer any re-takes on tests or moves if your child did not pass.
- If your child did not pass, they will have revisit their current grade until the next testing period.
Cancellation Policy
- If you wish to cancel, please do so via your online account.
- We will cancel your gymnasts subscription from the next available payment date, providing your request is received prior to the 20th of the month, before the next payment is due.
- We are not able to back-date cancellation requests. Your gymnast is welcome to attend our classes up to the end of the month you last paid for.
Thank you for your co-operation
