Gymnastics In Ipswich
Policies

Recommended Viewing Policy
Unlike the majority of high-level gymnastics clubs, we have an open balcony at Pipers Vale Gymnastics Club. Despite this we recommend that you restrict the amount of time you spend on the balcony and that you do not watch every training session. Over-viewing can be counterproductive and even detrimental to gymnast development, and we therefore suggest the following as a recommendation for viewing training.
We strongly recommend that parents/ guardians/ carers of squad gymnasts aged 7 and older watch training a maximum of once per week. This will give the gymnasts the opportunity to demonstrate more of their progress, which is not always evident when you watch every session. It will allow them to develop a sense of independence and prevent over-analysis of performance and allow for a better gymnast, parent/ guardian/ carer and coach relationship which will be beneficial for all concerned.
Parents/ guardians/ carers are encouraged to watch the first 15 minutes, and last 15 minutes of each training session if they wish to do so, to ensure that the gymnast is happy and settled. Coaches have contact details for parents/ guardians/ carers and will contact you if they have any concerns about the gymnast during training.
We are lucky that there are several shops, clubs, and activities in the local area so even those parents/ guardians/ carers who live some distance from the Gym have numerous things that they, and their children, can be doing whilst the gymnast is training.
Allowing gymnasts to develop independence will empower them and enhance their self-esteem. It will help not only in gymnastics but also in developing essential life skills.
