Little Teddy Bear gymnastics classes offer a fun, structured introduction to gymnastics for young children. Each session is designed to be engaging and stimulating while building strong foundational gymnastics skills. As participants are very young, children must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or carer throughout the class.
The programme follows eight milestone certificates, providing clear direction and purpose while supporting each child’s progression and sense of achievement. Children may be awarded a milestone certificate at any stage once coaches observe that the gymnast can confidently and consistently perform the required skills.
The Class format is as follows;-
- Whole Group Warm-Up: A fun cardiovascular activity followed by gentle stretching.
- Whole Group Co-ordination Activity: Activities may include catching games, balancing, and safe landing skills.
- Small Group Work: The class then divides into smaller groups based on ability. Children work on each piece of apparatus, working towards their award scheme goals.
- Free Playtime: The session concludes with five minutes of free play, allowing children to burn off energy or revisit their favourite activities.
- Teddy Bear Song: To finish, children and accompanying adults gather together to sing the Teddy Bear song and say goodbye. The Little Teddy Bear award scheme starts at Grade 3 progressing to Grade 1 with those children that progress well and reach a level higher than Grade 1 being introduced to the Teddy Bear award scheme.

Gymnastics In Ipswich Terms & Conditions
Structured Courses
- Our terms run back-to-back; they are not synced with school terms which means we are open during school holidays as normal. We do close on Bank Holidays though and for 2/3 weeks at the end of August and December
- There are four testing periods in a calendar year, the dates of which are displayed at our reception desk and the entrance to the Gym. Testing happens over 2 sessions towards the end of a teaching block; it is important your gymnast(s) attend both of these.
- If you know prior to the testing weeks that your child will be missing one or both of these weeks, please speak to the coaches in the Gym, they will try to complete the test on just one week, however we cannot guarantee this. We do not test any later than these set periods; if your child was unable to make the testing weeks, this means they will not be assessed.
- Test results will only be given out in week after the testing period once they have been finalised by the coaches.
- We cannot offer any re-takes on tests or moves if your child did not pass.
- If your child did not pass, they will have revisit their current grade until the next testing period.
